Car Detailing

The act of performing a thorough cleaning, restoration and finishing of a motor vehicle, to produce a show quality cleanliness and polish. Detailing can be performed on vehicle exterior and interior.

Steps

1. Wash

Wash the vehicle using the two bucket method to avoid scratching your paint.

2. Dry

Dry your car using blower to avoid scratches and swirls. or use two big and thick microfiber towels. One for drying and the other for leftovers.

3. Clay

Clay the car using a good, clean and new clay bar. Use plenty of clay bar lubricant. Quick detailer usually works well for this. Clay the windows, headlamps and tail lamps.

4. Prepration

Wipe each section you clay to remove residue.

5. Polish

If paint correction is needed, this is the part when the orbital buffer comes out.

6. Protect Wax

After polishing, protect paint with wax or a synthetic paint sealant.

7. Inside

Clean interiors while you wait for wax layers to cure. Vacuum and shampoo carpet if needed.

8. Fabric

Apply leather seat treatment for good appearance and protection. Apply carpet mat and upholstery stain guard for added protection.

9. Wheels

Remove wheels and clean them inside out.

10. Glass

Treat windows headlamps and tail lights with a non-abrasive sealant recommended for glass and shiny hard plastic. This adds uv protection and makes the surface slick.

11. Details

Clean and clay door jambs and around hood and trunk. Apply protectant to exterior trim.
